China Calls for Dialogue to Resolve US-Iran Conflict
(MENAFN) China says negotiations and diplomatic engagement, rather than military pressure, are the appropriate way to address the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks during talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Beijing, where the two officials examined developments across the Middle East and Gulf region.
Wang said the escalating situation is placing serious pressure on regional security while also affecting energy markets, maritime transportation and the stability of global supply chains.
He stressed that diplomatic efforts remain the only viable path to resolving the dispute and called for the sovereignty and security of countries across the region to be "fully respected."
Wang also said the concerns and legitimate interests of all sides need to be addressed appropriately. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of respecting international law and the established principles governing relations between countries.
China is prepared to deepen communication and coordination with Qatar and other regional nations, Wang said, adding that Beijing supports efforts by countries in the region to determine their own future and development.
