Air Defenses Down 165 Drones In Overnight Russian Attack On Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.

Starting at 18:00 on Tuesday, September 8, Russia attacked Ukraine with Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from temporarily occupied Crimea, S8000 Bandеrol drones from the Sea of Azov, and 196 attack UAVs, including jet-powered drones, of the Shahed type, Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy drones. The drones were launched from the directions of Oryol and Kursk in Russia, as well as temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.

The aerial attack was repelled by Ukrainian aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire teams of the Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 on Wednesday, September 9, air defense forces had shot down or suppressed 165 drones.

Missile and drone strikes were recorded at 23 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at four locations.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Starokozache border crossing with Moldova suspended operations following a Russian drone attack. Two people were killed and three others injured.
