Russian Forces Leave Behind Extensive Minefields In Oleksandrivka Sector Press Officer

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by Serhii Kolesnychenko, an officer with the communications section of the 148th Separate Zhytomyr Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.

“They (the Russians – ed.) mine not only their positions but also tree lines, wooded areas, approaches, roads and routes that our ground robotic systems may use. Mining today is not limited to conventional minefields, which, in principle, are no longer used by anyone. The enemy combines mining with remote strike capabilities and FPV drones, creating complex threats along routes,” Kolesnychenko said.

According to him, after Russian forces withdraw, the area becomes dangerous and must be inspected, demined and cleared.

“This affects both the pace of advance and the ability to quickly establish logistics. Here, we are talking only about ground robotic systems, because neither a pickup truck nor a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle can get in there,” the officer noted.

According to him, the enemy is effectively trying to leave behind not simply positions, but a system of obstacles and minefields designed to slow the further movement of the Defense Forces.

As reported by Ukrinform, Kolesnychenko previously said that Russian forces are unable to effectively use their weapons in the Oleksandrivka sector because of the large number of Ukrainian FPV drones and are being forced to limit their use of military equipment.
