Lithuania To Focus On EU Enlargement And Support For Ukraine During Its EU Council Presidency


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The head of Lithuania's diplomacy said this in a post on X, Ukrinform reports.

Budrys thanked EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas for participating in the annual meeting of Lithuanian ambassadors and for the valuable exchange of views on the challenges facing Europe.

“Europe has a choice: react or lead. We choose leadership through stronger support for Ukraine, tougher sanctions on Russia and Belarus, and a faster European path for Ukraine and Moldova,” the Lithuanian Foreign Minister stressed.

He added that, as Lithuania prepares to assume the EU Council Presidency, it will remain focused on what matters most:“security, defense, transatlantic unity, EU enlargement, and unwavering support for Ukraine.”

As reported by Ukrinform, Lithuania will hold the EU Council Presidency starting January 1, 2027. According to Lithuanian Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, the country is ready to facilitate a decision on a complete ban on imports of Russian oil as part of strengthened sanctions.
