Pistorius: Germany To Boost Ukraine's Air Defenses With More Missiles
“In addition to PAC-2 interceptor missiles, Germany will further step up its continuous provision of AIM-9 air-to-air missiles from Bundeswehr stocks to provide greater quantities to Ukraine. These missiles are being delivered as we speak and will strengthen Ukraine's air defenses before winter comes,” Pistorius said.
He recalled that he had decided at the NATO summit to urgently provide Ukraine with PAC-2 interceptor missiles from Bundeswehr stocks and had called on all members of the Contact Group to review their own stockpiles and make similar deliveries.
“From NATO's perspective, further substantial deliveries of Patriot interceptor missiles by allies are acceptable. Mark and General Grinkevich were clear about that during our last meetings and will reiterate it today,” the German Minister said.
He also said that Germany continues to regularly supply IRIS-T air defense systems, including guided missiles manufactured by the defense industry. The medium-range IRIS-T system has been highly successful in Ukraine.
“This is why I am pleased that Ukraine is going to order several thousand additional IRIS-T guided missiles, that will be funded by the EU Ukraine Defense Loan,” the German Defense Minister said.

Ahead of the Ramstein-format meeting, Ukraine provided NATO with a list of its urgent needs for air and missile defense systems.
