UK To Provide £100M For Patriot Missiles And Other Air Defense Systems For Ukraine
“Today I am announcing a £100 million contribution to PURL to support for rapid delivery of air-defense interceptors this winter,” Streeting said.
The British minister also reported progress toward London's commitment to provide Ukraine with 120,000 drones over the course of this year.
“We are also making strong progress against the commitment made by my predecessors to provide 120,000 drones to Ukraine this year. We have delivered over 25,000 drones so far, with thousands more to be delivered before winter. Those cover a whole range of capabilities that will help Ukraine take the fight directly to Russia, defend itself by taking out Russian drones, and also to see what's happening on the battlefield and behind the enemy lines,” he said.
According to Streeting, the UK will also continue supplying Ukraine with large-caliber artillery ammunition.
“We delivered one millionth rounds in July, with tens of thousands more coming soon thanks to funding from our friends in Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden,” the British Defence Secretary said.
Streeting stressed that the allies must provide Ukraine with maximum support ahead of a difficult winter.
“It is very important that Russia understand that we will not fringe in terms of our support for Ukraine, as it continues to fight for their freedom,” he said.
