Rutte At Ramstein: Delays In Delivering Weapons To Ukraine Cost Lives
“We must continue to support Ukraine's security and help them defend against Russia's brutal attacks. That means supporting Ukraine with utmost urgency, and let me say that delays simply cost human lives,” Rutte stressed.
He noted that the number of civilian casualties in Ukraine is currently the highest recorded since May 2022.
“Today, I will be urging all nations to step up their support. Allies, as we know, promised €70 billion in Ankara, and this will require more bilateral support to achieve. Nations must dig deeper, we do not have a choice, I believe,” the Secretary General said.
He recalled that Ukraine's detailed package of priority requests includes air defense, Ukrainian-made drones, and long-range ammunition.

As reported, the meeting is being held virtually. Opening remarks were delivered by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, German Federal Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius, UK Secretary of State for Defense Wes Streeting, Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara, and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby.
Ahead of the Ramstein-format meeting, Ukraine submitted to NATO a list of urgent needs for air and missile defense systems.
