EU Approves Purchase Of Patriot Missiles For Ukraine Using Funds From Ukraine Support Loan
“Together with NATO Secretary General Rutte, I welcome the agreement by Member States on the derogation for Ukraine to purchase crucial products for Patriot air defense systems,” von der Leyen said.
She said the next disbursement of €3.2 billion would enable Ukraine to better protect its airspace against Russia's indiscriminate attacks.
The European Commission President noted that the funds come on top of €8.4 billion already disbursed under the Ukraine Support Loan, including for air defense needs.
“We will continue to work hand in hand to support Ukraine and to strengthen Europe's defense posture,” von der Leyen said.
As reported by Ukrinform, under the Ukraine Support Loan for 2026–2027, more than €28 billion has been earmarked for defense-related spending this year.
