Wego Reveals the Short Getaways Shaping September Travel from Kuwait
(MENAFN- Orient Planet Group) Kuwait City, Kuwait – 08 September 2026: Following the peak summer holiday period, Wego, the number one travel app and the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has identified growing interest in shorter getaways among travellers from Kuwait, as September brings a shift towards more compact regional and international trips.
According to Wego’s latest data, the number of trips of four nights or fewer that travellers selected rose 40% for September departures compared with August, pointing to growing demand for shorter breaks as travellers settle back into their regular routines.
Short-Haul Favourites for September
Dubai, Cairo, Istanbul, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi are among the destinations attracting interest from Kuwait this September, offering travellers a mix of culture, entertainment, dining, shopping, and leisure within a shorter trip.
Bahrain recorded the strongest growth at 38% increase in searches for September departures than for August departures, while return fares across the leading destinations started from KWD 55 per passenger. Searches were made about a month before departure, providing further insight into how travellers are planning these shorter September journeys.
The destinations reflect the variety travellers can experience within a few days, from culture and dining in Cairo and Istanbul to convenient regional escapes in Bahrain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. Their connectivity and range of experiences make them well suited to travellers looking to make the most of a shorter stay.
Commenting on the findings, Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said: "September brings a noticeable change in travel patterns following the peak summer period. For travellers from Kuwait, shorter breaks offer an opportunity to fit travel around returning routines, whether that means a few days in a nearby destination or a stay closer to home. What we're seeing is an appetite for trips that are easy to plan, well connected, and still offer a meaningful change of scenery."
Staycation Interest Remains Strong Closer to Home
Domestic hotel searches also provide a broader view of short-break demand in Kuwait. Across July and August, Wego recorded a 53% year-on-year increase in hotel searches within the country, pointing to strong interest in staycations through the peak summer travel season.
Hotel searches were concentrated in Kuwait City, with Salmiya and Al Khiran also drawing interest, while average nightly rates started from KWD 63.
From city stays to coastal retreats, domestic hotel searches show that shorter breaks are not limited to outbound travel, with staycations offering another convenient option for travellers looking for a change of scenery closer to home.
With both outbound destinations and staycations attracting interest, Wego’s latest data points to continued appetite for more compact travel experiences, giving travellers from Kuwait more ways to fit a getaway around their regular routines.
