Russians Restrict Use Of Military Equipment In Oleksandrivka Sector Due To Ukrainian FPV Drones Press Officer
“The enemy has enough weapons to conduct intensive offensive operations. They have artillery, armored vehicles and a large number of unmanned systems. At the same time, they face difficulties in using these weapons effectively. Because the battlefield is saturated with Ukrainian FPV drones, the enemy is forced to limit the use of equipment that cannot reach the line of contact within 15 kilometers,” Kolesnychenko said.
According to him, once Russian military equipment enters the kill zone, it is immediately targeted and destroyed by FPV drones operated by Ukrainian forces. As a result, Russian forces are being forced to disperse their equipment and rely increasingly on long-range strike capabilities, including unmanned systems.
“That is why the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine must do more than simply destroy enemy weapons. They must systematically undermine the enemy's ability to deploy them in the right place and at the right time,” the officer emphasized.
Kolesnychenko noted that artillery is also being used extensively in the Oleksandrivka sector, although its role has changed significantly compared with 2024.
“As for heavy equipment, the high density of UAVs on the battlefield makes it virtually impossible to conceal it – sooner or later, it will be destroyed. Artillery is also being used more cautiously and often from greater distances. Today, the most effective approach is not relying on any single type of weapon, but combining them. Reconnaissance identifies the target, unmanned systems carry out the strike and adjust fire, while artillery provides the necessary fire support,” the serviceman said.
According to Kolesnychenko, what matters on the modern battlefield is not who has more of a particular type of weapon, but who can detect a target faster, make a decision and strike first. The speed of this cycle is a major factor in determining how effectively weapons can be used, he stressed.
