KP Moves To Make BRT Travel Free For Senior Citizens
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has chaired a meeting on the Ehsas Buzurg Card and given in-principle approval for providing free travel facilities to senior citizens on BRT buses.
According to a briefing during the meeting, citizens aged 60 years and above will be eligible for free travel on BRT buses under the initiative. The annual cost of the facility is estimated at Rs935 million, which will be borne by the provincial government.
The meeting was informed that senior citizens will be verified through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), after which Ehsas Buzurg Cards will be issued to eligible citizens within a period of five months.

A Rs500 fine will be imposed on citizens in case of misuse of the Ehsas Buzurg Card, according to the briefing.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi said the Ehsas Buzurg Card was a practical manifestation of former prime minister Imran Khan's vision of a welfare state.
He said providing senior citizens with dignified and convenient transportation facilities was part of the provincial government's people-friendly agenda.
The chief minister added that the provincial government would continue taking effective and sustainable measures aimed at public welfare.
