Ukraine Ready For Compromises On Grain And Energy, But Russia Must Also Take Steps Zelensky

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to an Ukrinform correspondent, the head of state made the statement while speaking to journalists.

"Grain and energy are sensitive issues for Ukraine and Russia. And they are sensitive issues for the entire world – for India today, as well as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Asia and many other countries. We are ready to find a compromise on these issues," Zelensky said.

At the same time, he stressed that the necessary steps must be taken by both countries, not Ukraine alone.

"It is very important that we are in a situation and position today where both Ukraine and Russia need to take certain steps. We should not expect compromises only from Ukraine. Ukraine has already made many compromises," Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi said that due to logistical problems, Ukraine exported only 20% of its potential grain volume in August.

Global wheat prices have risen to nearly a three-year high amid Russian and Ukrainian strikes on Black Sea infrastructure. As of August 20, the price of food-grade wheat on the Euronext (MATIF) exchange stood at EUR 226.75 per tonne for the nearest September contract and EUR 236.75 per tonne for the December contract, equivalent to approximately $275 per tonne.

At the same time, Ukrainian strikes on logistics hubs have also created problems for Russian grain exports.
