Jordan Condemns Houthi Attacks On Saudi Arabia
In a statement on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry also condemned the continued targeting of commercial vessels by the Houthis in the Red Sea, calling the attacks a“blatant violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and a threat to its security, stability and territorial integrity.”
The ministry said the attacks constituted a flagrant violation of international law and the U.N. Charter and posed a threat to the safety and security of maritime navigation.
It also reaffirmed Jordan's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the kingdom to protect its security, stability, resources, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
Houthi attacks have left more than 70 people injured, including women and children, in various towns and cities across Saudi Arabia, a military spokesman said on Tuesday, adding that Riyadh would take measures to counter the group.
The Riyadh-based Arab News quoted the spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, Maj. Gen. Turki Al Maliki, as describing the Houthi escalation and attempts to target Saudi territory and infrastructure as“dangerous,” saying they demonstrated the group's“hostile and irresponsible” approach.
Al Maliki said that the latest attacks targeted civilian and economic sites in the Saudi Arabia cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, resulting in 73 civilian injuries.
