Russia Strikes Kyivsumy Train, No Injuries Reported


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, this was reported by JSC Ukrzaliznytsia on Telegram.

“Another enemy strike on a passenger train - and another evacuation that saved lives. The Kyiv–Sumy train was stopped in advance following a warning from Ukrzaliznytsia's monitoring team,” the company said. It emphasized that, thanks to coordinated efforts, passengers and the train and locomotive crews were evacuated before the strikes.

Meanwhile, Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that rescuers evacuated 90 people.

“Following the enemy strike on the passenger train, rescuers extinguished the fire and evacuated 90 people. This morning, in Sumy district, the enemy attacked a passenger train traveling from Kyiv to Sumy with drones. Before the attack, passengers had already left the train with the assistance of Ukrzaliznytsia staff. Rescuers arrived promptly and extinguished the fire,” the statement said.

The evacuation of passengers was organized simultaneously. Two State Emergency Service buses and two more buses provided by local authorities were used to transport people.

In total, joint efforts enabled the evacuation of 90 passengers.

Community rescue officers also worked at the scene, helping organize the evacuation, coordinate efforts, and assist people.

According to preliminary information, there were no injuries.

As reported, air defense forces neutralized two ballistic missiles, 31 cruise missiles, and 142 drones used by Russian invaders against Ukraine from the evening of September 7.
