Russians Tried To Plan Attack To Cause Maximum Damage -- Zelensky
“In Kyiv and the region, as well as in many other regions, work to deal with the aftermath of the Russian strike has been underway since overnight. It was a complex attack, which the Russians deliberately tried to plan to cause as much harm to human life as possible: ballistic and cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, and jet-powered Shaheds. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure in the capital have suffered significant damage. As of now, ten people are known to have been injured. Medical caare is being provided to everyone who needs it. Emergency Service workers managed to rescue thirteen people. Unfortunately, two people were killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” he wrote.

Zelensky reported that critical infrastructure in Kyiv region had been hit.
“In Odesa region, it was an ordinary open-air market. Two people were injured in Kharkiv. An apartment building was damaged. In the morning, the locomotive of the Kyiv–Sumy train was attacked at a railway station in Sumy region. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The evacuation of people is ongoing. Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions were also hit,” he added.
The President noted that the Defense Forces had shot down a total of 175 aerial targets overnight, but not all of them.
“Despite very good results against cruise missiles, ballistic missiles are particularly difficult, and every day we are proving to our partners that we need interceptors. We have already discussed this with the Americans and Europeans, and there will be more meetings, including today, with representatives of states and companies that can help with supplies and with our FREYJA anti-ballistic system,” Zelensky reported.
He thanked the partners who have made assistance to Ukraine with air defense a priority.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, overnight on September 8, Russia carried out another combined attack on the capital, with destruction and fires reported in at least five districts.
