Casualty Toll In Kyiv Rises To 18 Following Massive Attack

According to him,“more than 50 facilities were damaged in the overnight combined attack on Kyiv, including residential buildings, a dormitory, school grounds, shops, gas stations, and a flour-production enterprise.”“Damage was recorded in many districts. Two people were killed in the attack in the Solomianskyi district. The number of injured residents has risen to 16. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance,” Klymenko said.

He reported that explosions were heard in Kyiv for nearly five hours. Rescuers and police officers had been assisting civilians at the attack sites from the first minutes. Thirteen people were rescued, including people evacuated from a blocked premises in the Holosiivskyi district. Vehicles belonging to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were also hit in a repeated strike.

More than 300 rescuers and police officers continue to work in Kyiv. They are extinguishing fires and clearing debris at seven locations, documenting another act of terror against civilians, accepting reports from residents about destroyed and damaged property, and supporting those affected.

Mobile service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are operating, where citizens can restore their documents. All this is taking place amid another air raid alert, the minister emphasized.

The Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions also came under Russian attack overnight, according to Klymenko.

In Odesa region, Russian forces struck an open-air market with missiles.

In the morning, the Kyiv–Sumy train was attacked in Sumy region. The passengers were taken to a safe location and evacuated by buses provided by the State Emergency Service and the regional military administration. Rescuers extinguished the fire that had engulfed the locomotive.

“Russian forces continue to attack civilian facilities in Ukraine's regions at this very moment,” the interior minister added.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, two people had been killed and 10 injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian missile-and-drone attack on September 8.
