Smotrich Declares Oslo Accords Invalid, Claims West Bank Areas

(MENAFN) Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declares the Oslo Accords “null and void” and claims that Areas A and B of the occupied West Bank are part of Israel, while also advocating for the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority.

Speaking at a conference on Sunday, Smotrich, who leads the Religious Zionism party, acknowledges that his position differs from that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“In any case, Oslo is null and void. In any case, Areas A and B are also ours,” he says.

“That is a dispute with the prime minister,” he adds.

Smotrich says Netanyahu has, to his knowledge, instructed authorities to remove sites established in Areas A and B, but makes clear that he disagrees with the decision.

“Netanyahu, to the best of my knowledge, gave an instruction to evacuate places established in Areas A and B. I don’t like that instruction,” he says.

The far-right minister also calls for the Palestinian Authority to be dismantled, describing it as a “terrorist entity” and accusing it of supporting and financing attacks as well as encouraging hostility toward Israel.

Smotrich also predicts that Israel will carry out a major military operation in the occupied West Bank.
