Poland Opens Defense Center to Reinforce NATO’s Eastern Flank

(MENAFN) Poland opens a new military repair and logistics facility on Monday as part of efforts to strengthen its air defense capabilities and bolster NATO’s eastern flank.

Located in Czosnów in central Poland, the new center supports the protection of Polish airspace while benefiting from British defense expertise.

The facility is inaugurated in the presence of UK Minister for Defense Readiness and Industry Luke Pollard and Polish Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski. The opening reflects Britain’s commitment to strengthening NATO’s eastern defenses amid growing concerns over Russian aggression.

"UK personnel will work alongside Polish counterparts at the site to help protect Poland’s airspace," the British side says.

The center is designed to provide quicker and more direct maintenance, technical support and training for Poland’s PILICA+ program, a multibillion-dollar effort aimed at developing an integrated air defense network to safeguard the country’s airspace with British cooperation.

"Stronger Polish air defenses mean stronger NATO air defenses, and that work is taking place while also supporting jobs in both nations," Pollard says.
