Trump Presses Bombardier to Shift Production to US
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump calls for Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier to be prevented from selling its planes in the United States unless the company moves production to the country.
Trump argues that Canada unfairly limits American businesses while insisting that Bombardier must manufacture its aircraft in the US if it wants to continue accessing the American market.
“No more selling Bombardier in the United States!” Trump says, claiming that the company generates more than half of its revenue from the US market.
He accuses Canada of restricting American banks and businesses from operating there and points specifically to Gulfstream Aerospace. Trump says Canada has blocked the company from conducting business in the country and describes the treatment as "Completely unjust and unfair!"
“That era is over! if they want our market, they must build here,” he says, while encouraging US consumers to “buy American” and “fly on American airliners.”
Bombardier rejects the criticism and highlights its contribution to the US aerospace industry. The company says the American aerospace sector is "a clear winner on trade and exports" and describes itself as a "strong contributor to the sector."
