Israeli Forces Beat Five Palestinians in West Bank Raids
(MENAFN) Five Palestinians were injured Monday after Israeli soldiers beat them in two separate incidents across the occupied northern West Bank, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported.
In a statement, the group said its medical teams rushed two Palestinians to hospital after they were "assaulted and beaten by occupation forces" in Anabta, a town in the Tulkarem province. A second statement from the organization said crews transferred three more Palestinians to hospital from the town of Burqa in Nablus province, also after being beaten by Israeli forces.
In a separate incident, the official Palestinian news agency reported that Israeli troops fired tear gas at Palestinians near the Ein Sinya military checkpoint north of Ramallah, in the central West Bank. According to the agency, Israeli forces had tightened controls at the checkpoint and blocked vehicle traffic, triggering severe congestion, before firing tear gas at those gathered there. No injuries were reported.
The news agency also reported that an Israeli court had rejected appeals to block the demolition of residential and agricultural structures in the northern Jordan Valley. Mutaz Bisharat, an official who monitors illegal Israeli settlement activity in Tubas province, said the appeals — filed by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission and Tubas provincial authorities — had sought to halt the destruction of property belonging to eight Palestinians.
"The occupation rejected the appeals submitted to halt the demolition of residential and agricultural structures belonging to eight citizens in the northern Jordan Valley," Bisharat said.
He accused Israel of "racing against time to carry out the largest possible demolition operations in the Jordan Valley as part of a systematic policy to uproot citizens from their lands."
Israeli military raids and attacks on Palestinians and their property have surged across the occupied West Bank since Israel launched its war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, with rights groups warning of the escalating toll of the continuing violence.
