Poland Inaugurates Defense Repair Center With UK Help

(MENAFN) Poland inaugurated a new defense facility on Monday, built with British expertise, aimed at strengthening the country's air defenses and reinforcing NATO's eastern flank.

The repair and logistics center, located in Czosnów in central Poland, will help protect Polish airspace using UK know-how, Britain's Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The facility's opening earlier Monday was attended by UK Minister for Defense Readiness and Industry Luke Pollard and Polish Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski, forming part of what the ministry described as the "UK's commitment to protecting NATO's eastern flank against increasing Russian aggression."

"UK personnel will work alongside Polish counterparts at the site to help protect Poland's airspace," the statement read.

The new center will allow for faster, more direct maintenance, support and training under Poland's PILICA+ program — a multi-billion-dollar initiative to build an integrated air defense network shielding Polish skies, developed in partnership with the UK.

"Stronger Polish air defenses mean stronger NATO air defenses, and that work is taking place while also supporting jobs in both nations," Pollard said.
