Houthi Attacks Spark Fires, Disrupt Operations at Saudi Energy Sites

(MENAFN) Fires erupted at energy facilities in southern Saudi Arabia after the sites came under attack, according to the Saudi Energy Ministry on Tuesday.

The ministry said the strikes resulted in a temporary suspension of certain activities at the affected facilities as authorities worked to control the situation.

“Specialized teams have begun containing the fires and securing the affected sites,” it said.

The developments followed Saudi statements earlier Tuesday that Yemen’s Houthi group had targeted civilian and economic installations in the southern cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. The attacks reportedly injured at least 73 civilians, including women and children.

The Saudi-led coalition described the attacks as a “dangerous escalation” and said it would implement the necessary operational measures to eliminate the sources of the threats.
