UK, US Leaders Hold Talks on Ukraine War, Middle East
(MENAFN) British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and US President Donald Trump hold a phone conversation on Monday to discuss developments in the Middle East and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
During the call, Burnham congratulates Trump on the latest US employment figures and points to encouraging economic growth in Britain, according to a statement from his office.
"The Prime Minister said the government was building more positivity about the UK and that he was making progress, but with more still to do," the statement said.
Regarding Ukraine, the two leaders agree that efforts should continue toward securing a ceasefire aimed at preventing further loss of life.
Burnham also reaffirms Britain’s backing for Ukraine and expresses support for the recent peace talks led by the United States.
The discussion also covers the Middle East, where Burnham outlines the UK’s commitment to promoting peace and regional security.
He highlights the need to advance a two-state solution for Palestinians and Israelis, restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and "ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon," according to the statement.
