Slovenia Receives Criminal Complaint by HRF Against Israeli FM
(MENAFN) The Hind Rajab Foundation files a criminal complaint in Slovenia against Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar over alleged war crimes, genocide-related acts and torture in Gaza, ahead of his expected visit to Ljubljana this week.
The legal complaint is submitted to the Ljubljana District Prosecutor’s Office and local police as Sa’ar is expected to attend the inauguration of a new Israeli embassy in the Slovenian capital.
The foundation says information from a Slovenian initiative supporting Palestinian rights indicates that the Israeli foreign minister is scheduled to take part in the embassy opening.
The complaint accuses Sa’ar of bearing criminal responsibility for several alleged actions during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Among the allegations is an attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza between Oct. 8 and Dec. 27, 2024, as well as the arrest and continued detention of the hospital’s director, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiyeh.
The organization further alleges that Sa’ar played a role in the destruction and occupation of parts of Gaza, the large-scale displacement of Palestinian civilians and restrictions on essential supplies, including food, water, fuel and medical aid.
The foundation says its legal filing relies on Slovenian legislation as well as international legal frameworks, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and the UN Convention against Torture.
