Thailand Deports Israeli, French National After Palestinian Flag Dispute
(MENAFN) Thailand orders the deportation of an Israeli national and a French co-owner of a zoo on Koh Samui following a dispute involving a Palestinian flag, alleged threats and confrontations.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signs a deportation order against French national Kevin Dimino, co-owner of Samui Exotic Park, after authorities previously order the removal of Israeli national Yaacov Ohayon.
Dimino faces allegations of threatening and harassing conduct, physical aggression and behavior considered capable of intensifying racial and religious tensions among tourists, according to reports.
His deportation order also references a conviction by the Koh Samui Provincial Court under Thailand’s Land Traffic Act. He initially receives a 10,000-baht ($310) fine, which is later reduced to 5,000 baht after he pleads guilty.
Ohayon faces a separate conviction for intimidation after allegedly sending messages threatening another individual’s life and safety.
His original punishment includes a one-month prison sentence and a 10,000-baht fine. Following his guilty plea, the sentence is reduced to a suspended 15-day term along with a 5,000-baht fine.
