Russian Attacks Leave Two Dead, Ten Wounded Across Kyiv

(MENAFN) At least two people were killed and 10 others wounded in Kyiv during a broad wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine, according to local authorities. Five of those injured were taken to hospital, including two who were reported to be in critical condition.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued repeated warnings overnight as large numbers of drones and high-speed ballistic missiles approached the capital. Residents were urged to immediately move to shelters as the attacks continued.

Russian drones also targeted the Boryspil and Fastiv districts in the wider Kyiv region. Several industrial facilities in Boryspil caught fire, with one blaze destroying seven trucks. A logistics center was hit twice, prompting emergency crews to respond and extinguish the resulting fires.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said fires also broke out at warehouses and on the grounds of a private school in Holosiivskyi district. Additional fires were reported at non-residential sites in the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.

Emergency personnel rescued 13 people who became trapped in different locations across the capital.

In Holosiivskyi district, an explosion sent a blast wave into the 23rd floor of a 26-story non-residential building. Rescuers also freed two people trapped inside a 16-story apartment building and assisted another person near a burning garage.

In Solomianskyi district, emergency teams rescued 10 residents from a five-story residential building. Firefighters also tackled fires involving warehouses, private garages and vehicles in the Podilskyi, Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts.

The Russian offensive reached well beyond Kyiv, with attacks reported across Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

Russian tactical aircraft also reportedly deployed KAB guided aerial bombs against frontline positions and civilian structures in eastern Ukraine.

Casualty claims and other battlefield accounts could not be independently verified because of the continuing conflict.

The latest assault follows the end of a temporary three-day ceasefire, after which hostilities resumed amid a recent visit to the region by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
