Ukraine Confirms Widespread Russian Drone, Missile Attacks
(MENAFN) Ukraine reported a large-scale wave of Russian drone and missile attacks overnight, prompting authorities to issue repeated air raid warnings and urge residents to take shelter.
The Ukrainian Air Force said waves of unmanned aerial vehicles and high-speed ballistic missiles were detected during the night, with air defense officials repeatedly calling on civilians to move to protected areas.
Across the Kyiv region, emergency authorities reported Russian drone attacks on the Boryspil and Fastiv districts. Several industrial facilities in Boryspil caught fire, with one blaze destroying seven trucks. A logistics facility was also hit twice, while emergency crews managed to put out the fires at the site.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the capital came under a ballistic missile attack and requested medical teams be sent to the Solomianskyi district.
A fire was reported at an educational facility in Holosiivskyi district, while additional fires broke out at non-residential sites in the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
At least six people were injured in Kyiv, according to local authorities. Three victims were taken to hospitals, while the other three received medical treatment without being admitted.
Emergency teams also rescued 13 people who became trapped in different parts of the capital following the attacks.
In Holosiivskyi district, a blast damaged the 23rd floor of a 26-story non-residential building. Rescuers also freed two people trapped inside a 16-story residential building and assisted another person near a burning garage.
In Solomianskyi district, emergency crews rescued 10 people from a five-story residential building. Firefighters additionally dealt with fires involving warehouses, private garages and vehicles in the Podilskyi, Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts.
The overnight attacks were not limited to Kyiv. Explosions and strikes were also reported across Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Odesa, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.
Russian tactical aircraft also reportedly deployed KAB guided bombs against frontline positions and civilian infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, adding to the scale of the overnight assault.
The latest attacks came after a temporary three-day ceasefire ended, with hostilities resuming following a recent regional visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
