Ukrainian Drone Attack Damages Civilian Infrastructure in Saratov
(MENAFN) A Ukrainian drone attack caused damage to civilian infrastructure in Russia’s southwestern Saratov region on Tuesday, with preliminary reports indicating that people may have been injured.
Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin said authorities detected a threat involving a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle early Tuesday. He later confirmed that the attack affected civilian infrastructure in Saratov, a city situated along the Volga River.
Russian authorities had earlier issued warnings about potential drone activity in several areas and placed emergency response services on heightened readiness.
Rescue crews have since been deployed to locations where the drones reportedly struck and are working to address the consequences of the attack.
Authorities have not yet provided confirmed figures on the number of casualties or details about their medical condition. Further information about the extent of structural damage is also still pending.
The latest incident comes as fighting continues following the end of a temporary three-day ceasefire that coincided with a visit to the region by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
