War Update: 244 Clashes On Front Line Over Past Day, Fiercest Fighting In Pokrovsk Sector

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in a Facebook update on the situation as of 8:00 on Tuesday, September 8.

Russian forces launched 99 airstrikes, dropping 285 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces used 8,495 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,508 shelling attacks, including 26 with multiple rocket launchers.

The areas under attack included Bachivsk, Bezsalivka, Korenok, Lomlenka, Hirky, Rivne, Neskuchne, Rohizne, Pysarivka, Sadky, Nova Sich, Myropillia, and Mala Slobidka in the Sumy region, as well as Khrinivka and Krasnyi Khutir in the Chernihiv region. Tovstodubove, Luzhky and Ulanove came under airstrikes.

Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery struck five clusters of Russian personnel, four UAV control posts and two Russian artillery positions.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces launched seven assault actions. They carried out 107 shelling attacks, including one with multiple rocket launchers, and launched four strikes using 12 guided aerial bombs.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 13 attacks. Russian troops attempted to advance near Starytsia, Lyman, Volokhivka, Chaikivka, and Khatnie, as well as toward Petro-Ivanivka and Radkivka.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces attempted to improve their positions four times, launching assaults near Kurylivka and toward Kupiansk and Hlushkivka.

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops attacked nine times near Novoiehorivka, Novoselivka, Stavky, Torske, Zarichne, and Lyman.

In the Sloviansk sector, Russian forces launched two offensive actions near Kryva Luka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops carried out one attack toward Yurkivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, 12 attacks were recorded. Russian forces launched assaults near Kostiantynivka, Novoselivka, and Illinivka, as well as toward Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka and Rusyn Yar.

Russian forces launched 39 attacks in the Pokrovsk sector, attempting to advance near Vodianske, Novyi Donbas, Bilytske, Shevchenko, Novohryshyne, Dobropillia, Matiasheve, Myrne, Kotlyne, Novomykolaivka, Biliakivka, Serhiivka, Udachne, Molodetske, and Novopidhorodnie.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces conducted no offensive actions.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian troops attacked nine times, attempting to advance toward Rizdvianka and Kopani.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped one Russian attempt to advance toward Pavlivka.

In the Dnipro River sector, Russian forces made no attempts to attack.

No signs of Russian forces forming offensive groupings were detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.

As Ukrinform reported, Russia's total combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, had reached approximately 1,499,390 personnel as of September 8, 2026.
