Israeli Forces Enforce Curfew During Operation Near East Jerusalem

(MENAFN) Israeli forces imposed a curfew on Palestinians on Monday while carrying out a military operation in the Shuafat refugee camp and the nearby town of Anata, both located near occupied East Jerusalem.
Military vehicles and bulldozers entered the two areas as large numbers of troops were deployed, according to local officials. Soldiers used loudspeakers to announce restrictions on movement and ordered residents to remain indoors.
The army later described the operation as “focused,” but did not say how long it would continue. It claimed the raid was aimed at what it called “terrorist activity” and related infrastructure, without presenting evidence to support the allegation.
At the same time, Israeli forces and settlers carried out attacks against Palestinians and their property in several parts of the occupied West Bank.
In Burqa, east of Ramallah, Israeli settlers entered the village and moved through its streets. Another group reportedly set up a tent on Mount Al-Qarana in Deir Abu Mashal, northwest of Ramallah.
Near Al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah, settlers transported timber toward illegal settlement outposts, raising concerns among Palestinians about additional expansion onto their land.
In Hebron, a Palestinian woman’s vehicle was attacked, with its windows smashed during the incident.
South of Yatta, an illegal settlement outpost in Wadi al-Rakhim was rebuilt only hours after Israeli forces had removed it. Local activist Osama Makhamra said Israeli troops also raided Khirbet Imneizil, southeast of Yatta, entered a Palestinian home and damaged belongings inside.
In the northern West Bank’s Salfit area, Israeli settlers continued destroying Palestinian land northwest of Deir Ballut for an 11th straight day.
Palestinian figures indicate that Israeli settlers carried out 3,488 attacks across the occupied West Bank during the first six months of 2026, highlighting the continued escalation of violence and settlement-related activity in the territory.
