Above-Average Temperatures To Ease From Thursday

Amman, Sep. 8 (Petra) -- Temperatures will remain slightly above seasonal averages through Wednesday before declining on Thursday, bringing more moderate conditions to the highlands and plains toward the end of the week, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

On Tuesday, moderate weather is forecast across the high mountainous areas, while the plains will be relatively hot and hotter conditions will prevail elsewhere. Moderate winds will shift between northeasterly and northwesterly and may become active at times.

Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday, with little change in temperatures. The highlands will remain moderate, the plains relatively hot and the rest of the country hot, accompanied by moderate northwesterly winds that may strengthen occasionally.

A slight drop in temperatures is forecast on Thursday, bringing moderate weather to the mountainous areas and plains. The Badia will remain relatively hot, while hot conditions will persist in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

The weather pattern will remain largely unchanged on Friday, with moderate conditions across the highlands and plains and relatively hot weather in the Badia. The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba will remain hot, while low clouds are expected over northern and central regions.

Tuesday's temperatures are forecast to reach 35 degrees Celsius in East Amman and 32 C in West Amman, with highs of 30 C in the northern highlands, 29 C in the Sharah highlands and 34 C across the plains.

Highs are expected to reach 37 C in the Badia, 40 C in the northern Jordan Valley and Aqaba, and 41 C in the southern Jordan Valley and at the Dead Sea.
