Northern Eastern Badia Education Directorate Holds Road Safety Awareness Seminar
Mafraq, Sept. 7 (Petra) -- The Northeastern Badia Education Directorate on Monday held a seminar on road safety awareness as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between educational and security institutions and promote a culture of road safety among students and the school community.
Head of the directorate Abdullah Al-Shorufat stressed the importance of holding such seminars and awareness programs targeting students and education-sector staff, noting that road safety awareness is an integral part of the educational system given its direct impact on protecting students and promoting positive behavior while using roads.
He said schools' role extends beyond providing academic knowledge to developing students into aware and responsible individuals capable of complying with laws and regulations. Promoting road safety awareness is a shared responsibility requiring concerted efforts by families, schools, security agencies, and various community institutions, he added.
Northeastern Badia Police Director Brig. Gen. Samer Al-Adwan stressed the importance of intensifying awareness programs and activities targeting students and community members and familiarizing them with traffic rules and regulations and proper road-use practices.
Compliance with traffic rules and regulations is the first line of defense against road accidents, he said, stressing the importance of cooperation between security agencies and educational institutions in delivering awareness messages to students and promoting a culture of compliance with the law and respect for the rights of other road users.
The head of the Traffic Department in Mafraq stressed the important role played by the relevant authorities in traffic awareness and guidance, alongside their regulatory and field duties. He called for road users to comply with traffic rules, remain attentive while driving, and avoid unsafe behavior that could lead to accidents.
Northeastern Badia Mufti Dr. Marzouq Al-Shorufat said compliance with traffic rules and safe road-use practices was a religious, ethical, and social responsibility. Protecting human life and safety is among the most important duties that should be instilled in students from an early age, he stressed.
He called for strengthening a culture of respect for law and order and avoiding behavior that could endanger lives, stressing the importance of turning road safety awareness into a daily practice and firmly established behavior among students and community members.
The seminar covered key traffic rules that must be observed, the importance of complying with traffic signals and signs, safe behavior while using roads, and awareness of the risks resulting from failure to comply with traffic laws and regulations.
