“At President Trump's direction, United States negotiators visited both Moscow and Kyiv in order to facilitate additional dialogue to end the Russia-Ukraine War,” the Special Envoy said.
According to Witkoff, ahead of the trip, the Russian and Ukrainian sides agreed to a three-day ceasefire to enable the negotiations to take place.
Special Envoy Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and officials from the National Security Council, State Department, and Treasury Department met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss“each side's proposals,” Witkoff said.
In Kyiv, the delegations were also joined by national security advisers from the United Kingdom, Germany and France“to collaborate on the path forward,” he added.
Witkoff emphasized that“substantive progress was made, including movement on scheduling additional trilateral talks.”
“President Trump is working hard to stop the killing and work towards a lasting and durable peace,” he wrote.
