This was stated by Jérôme Cosandey, head of the labour division at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), while commenting via teleconference on the unemployment figures (3% in August).
The only significant increase was among young people aged between 15 and 24, with the unemployment rate rising to 3.4% in the eighth month of the year. This was an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared with July, with 2,400 more people out of work (bringing the total to 14,700).
