British Library Announces Agatha Christie Exhibition

(MENAFN- USA Art News) The British Library is set to open an exhibition dedicated to crime fiction author Agatha Christie later this year. Running from October 30 through June 20, 2027, the London show aims to explore the influences on Christie's literary career and the development of her renowned characters, moving“behind the books to explore how Christie's life, travels and interests informed her work and the creation of her iconic characters.” The exhibition will delve into the life of the author behind classics such as Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.

Among the artifacts on display will be childhood photographs of Christie with her family at their Torquay home on England's south coast, as well as images of her“roller skating with friends.” Visitors can also expect to see photographs from 1922 capturing Christie surfing in Hawaii, alongside a replica of the surfboard she used. Christie's legacy has been honored by artists, including Elisabeth Hadley, who last year unveiled an effigy of the crime writer with her favorite dog, Peter, in Torquay.
