Prosecutor General Kravchenko Says Not Planning To Resign

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) He said this while speaking to journalists on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"There are legal procedures. I am not clinging to this position, and I never will. This is a decision for the team, the president or the Verkhovna Rada. As of this moment, I have made no such decision," he said in response to a question about whether he was prepared to resign.

According to Kravchenko, Ukraine is a state governed by the rule of law, where "the court has the final say, not a detective or an investigator."

He said he has answers to all questions being raised about him in connection with the detention by NABU detectives of Serhii Kropyva, deputy head of the Prosecutor General's Office's Department of International Cooperation, on allegations of covering up fraudulent call centers.

"I have answers to all the issues where questions are being raised about me, in accordance with the law, including regarding my family's and my own financial situation and my expenditures. [...] But if you think I should submit a [resignation] letter, that is your opinion," he said.

As reported, on September 4, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine said that, as part of Operation Carthage, they had exposed a criminal organization led by the head of a Prosecutor General's Office department that systematically collected bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundered the proceeds.

According to investigators, the PGO official formed the group in mid-2025, involving current prosecutors and close associates who were not officially affiliated with the office. The group imposed payments in exchange for allowing shadow call centers to operate without interference. The centers allegedly defrauded Ukrainian and foreign citizens on a large scale.

On September 6, the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered Serhii Kropyva, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation, who is accused of shielding fraudulent call centers, to be held in custody with bail set at UAH 120 million as an alternative to detention.
