Over 60% Of Russians Are Against The War --HUR Chief

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Oleh Ivashchenko, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR), told Ukrinform in an interview.

“In Russia, more than 60% of people are already against the war... The regional budgets of the Russian Federation are no longer able to continue financing payments for contract recruitment. We expect discontent to grow. It is difficult to say whether a sufficiently strong protest potential will emerge. But more than 60% of people are already against the war,” Ivashchenko said.

According to him, this is a consequence of the economic situation and the enemy's heavy human losses. In Ivashchenko's view, Russia's contract-recruitment model has largely exhausted itself, while regional budgets are no longer able to finance recruitment payments. At the same time, Russian military casualties are increasing.

“The average daily number of Russian casualties ranges from 1,200 to 1,400 people, and sometimes reaches 1,500. This refers to those killed and seriously wounded,” he said.

The HUR chief recalled that Russians are using foreign nationals from more than 40 countries in combat, including countries in Central Asia, Africa, and Latin America. They are mainly deployed in assault units.

“In intercepted communications, the Russians themselves call them 'allies' and often send them ahead of their own troops,” Ivashchenko said.

He added that some of these people are brought into the war through deception. They travel to Russia looking for work, sign contracts, and sometimes do not even understand what they are signing.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has been advised not to announce mobilization, as this could undermine the social contract. Instead, Russia is considering covert coercive measures to increase the number of contract soldiers.
