Crimea Is 100% Within The Strike Range Of Ukrainian Forces -- Ple¬Tenchuk

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Ple­tenchuk said this in a televised interview, responding to a question about the Askold, a small missile ship damaged at a shipyard in Crimea, Ukrinform reports.

“It is currently berthed under a shelter in Kerch, where it was struck by our colleagues from the Air Force some time ago. Accordingly, there are no real prospects for it at the moment, because Crimea is simply within the strike range of Ukrainian forces -100%, the entire territory. So that is its current status,” Ple­tenchuk said.

Asked how long it takes the Russians to move their ships out of the port of Novorossiysk to launch positions, the spokesman said that they simply do not move them to launch positions.

“Over the past three months, all launches have been carried out directly from the home port. Indeed, this is yet another Russian innovation aimed at preserving their fleet. It is risky, and they understand that perfectly well. Nevertheless, they are prepared to take these desperate steps and launch missiles directly from the harbor so as not to put to sea,” Ple­tenchuk said.

He explained that this does not mean the harbor can guarantee 100% protection.

As for whether Russian ships and missile carriers are already preparing to launch cruise missile strikes, the spokesman said the Navy believes this preparation is ongoing.

“In any case, whether it is one, two, or three days-when representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump were visiting-or a week, that does not change the overall paradigm. So the missile carriers remain at their home ports. No one has put to sea. Aviation is also operating in its standard mode. We can say that it was relatively quiet here today; at least, there were no strikes on ports or infrastructure facilities,” Ple­tenchuk said.

As previously reported bby Ukrinform, on June 21, Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Ple­tenchuk said that no railway ferry was operating in Crimea.
