Israeli Strikes Kill Two Palestinians, Including Child, in Gaza
(MENAFN) Two Palestinians — among them a child — succumbed Monday to wounds inflicted by Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, while two fishermen sustained injuries from Israeli naval gunfire off the coast of Gaza City, medical sources told media.
The deaths and injuries occurred amid what the report describes as daily Israeli breaches of the ceasefire agreement that has been in place across the enclave since Oct. 10, 2025.
Sobhi al-Batrikhi died from injuries sustained Sunday evening when an Israeli strike hit Palestinians near the Al-Etisalat Junction, west of Gaza City, a medical source said.
That Sunday strike near the junction killed one Palestinian outright and left al-Batrikhi critically wounded, according to medical sources at the time.
The source also reported that 6-year-old Dawood Muqat died from wounds inflicted weeks earlier by Israeli army gunfire in the Al-Zarqa area of northern Gaza.
Separately Monday, two Palestinian fishermen were wounded — one moderately, one lightly — by Israeli naval fire off the coast of Gaza City, medical sources said.
According to local sources, Israeli boats fired shells and gunfire at the fishermen's vessel as they worked off the coastline, injuring both men.
Israeli naval forces have repeatedly targeted fishing boats along the Gaza Strip's coastline, opening fire on fishermen in incidents that local sources say have resulted in deaths, injuries, arrests and sunken vessels.
Fishermen relying on small manual boats to make a living continue to face such attacks, according to the report, after Israel had earlier destroyed fishing vessels during what the report characterizes as its genocide in Gaza.
In a related incident, Israeli fighter jets struck three homes early Monday near army-controlled areas in the Tuffah neighborhood, northeast of Gaza City.
Local sources and eyewitnesses said the strikes hit three homes near the Sanafur junction in Tuffah, though no injuries or deaths were reported.
In southern Gaza, the Israeli army launched artillery shelling on areas south of Khan Younis, while military vehicles opened heavy fire toward areas east of the city.
Ceasefire violations by Israel have killed 1,344 Palestinians and injured 4,481 others as of Sunday, according to the latest figures from Gaza's Health Ministry.
The report states that since Oct. 8, 2023, Israel — with backing from the United States — has carried out what it describes as a genocide in Gaza, killing more than 73,000 Palestinians, injuring over 174,000, and destroying 90% of the enclave's infrastructure.
