Shipping Traffic In Strait Of Hormuz Falls To Lowest Since May - Reports
MOSCOW, Sept 7 (NNN-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz has fallen to its lowest level since May, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, quoting Reuters, which cited ship-tracking data.
Over the past 10 days, an average of 10 ships carrying crude oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz per day, the lowest level since May, the agency said.
Fifteen cargo ships passed through the strait on Friday, 13 on Saturday, and traffic fell to 10 on Sunday, Reuters said citing Kpler data.
On Sunday, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright acknowledged that the current oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was lower than it had been before the US attacks on Iran.
Earlier, the US Central Command said that US forces had attacked three Iranian oil tankers near Kharg Island, in the Jask region, and in the Gulf of Oman. In retaliation, Iranian forces struck three US-affiliated oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, and Reuters later reported that the IRGC had launched ballistic missile attacks on a US aircraft carrier and destroyer.
