Israel Orders Mass Evacuation in South Lebanon Strike Zone

(MENAFN) The Israeli army issued an urgent evacuation warning early Monday, ordering residents of Deir al-Zahrani in southern Lebanon to flee ahead of a planned strike.

Israeli military Arabic-language spokesperson Ella Waweya instructed people inside a designated building and nearby structures to evacuate immediately, directing them to move at least 300 meters (984 feet) away from the site.

Waweya claimed the location was situated near a Hezbollah facility that the army intended to target.

The warning follows a deadly wave of violence a day earlier: at least seven people were killed and more than 20 others injured Sunday in Israeli airstrikes that struck several areas across southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The continued strikes come in direct tension with a US-sponsored framework agreement signed by Israel and Lebanon on June 26, which lays out a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army.
