Israeli Army Warns Southern Lebanon Residents Ahead of Planned Strike

(MENAFN) The Israeli army issued an urgent evacuation warning early Monday to residents of Deir al-Zahrani in southern Lebanon ahead of a planned military operation.

Israeli military spokesperson Ella Waweya, who speaks Arabic, urged residents inside a specified building and those in nearby structures to leave immediately and move at least 300 meters away from the area.

She claimed the targeted location was situated near a Hezbollah facility that Israeli forces intended to hit.

At least seven people were killed and more than 20 others wounded Sunday in Israeli strikes across several parts of southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

The latest developments came despite a US-backed framework agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon on June 26. The agreement calls for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory in return for the deployment of Lebanese army forces.
