Israeli Settler Attacks Kill 1, Wound 3 in West Bank

(MENAFN) A Palestinian man was killed and three others were injured late Sunday in two separate attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, Palestinian officials and medics reported.

Palestine's official news agency said Omar al-Toubas died after being shot in the head during an assault on the village of Hajja, east of Qalqilya.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its emergency crews initially transported three wounded individuals to a hospital — one shot in the head, another in the chest, and a 17-year-old boy struck in the thigh.

The news agency reported that the gunfire had targeted a house in the village.

In a second, unrelated attack in the Jerusalem governorate, two Israeli settlers assaulted a Palestinian man, breaking his hand and severely injuring his eye, the governorate said, adding that the man later underwent surgery to treat the eye injury.

The latest violence comes amid a sustained escalation of settler attacks and Israeli military operations across the occupied West Bank since the war in Gaza began in October 2023 — a period that has also seen expanded settlement construction, new road-building, and tightened restrictions on Palestinian movement.
