Qatari Premier Visits China to Strengthen Strategic Ties
(MENAFN) Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is set to travel to Beijing for a two-day visit aimed at advancing cooperation between Qatar and China.
The visit takes place from Sept. 7 to 8, according to official statements, with Sheikh Mohammed scheduled to meet senior Chinese officials during his stay.
The discussions will center on the strategic partnership between the two countries and ways to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors. Economic and investment ties are also expected to feature prominently in the talks.
The Qatari side says the meetings will additionally address major regional developments and diplomatic efforts designed to ease tensions and support greater security and stability in the region.
Both sides are also expected to emphasize the importance of maintaining safe and unrestricted international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The visit comes as the US-Iran conflict continues to affect regional security and diplomacy.
Qatar, together with Pakistan, has played an active role in mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran, seeking to encourage negotiations aimed at ending the conflict that has continued for months.
