Catalina Resources Ltd (ASX:CTN) Mid-West Exploration Builds Towards Drilling
Mid-West Exploration Builds Towards Drilling Perth, Sep 7, 2026 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Catalina Resources Limited (ASX:CTN ) (XS20:FRA ) announced an update on exploration activities across its Mid-West exploration portfolio, with a coordinated program of field activities commencing Monday, 7 September 2026 across the Tallering, Kirkalocka and Warriedar projects. These activities are focused on advancing Tallering and Kirkalocka towards drilling, while commencing Catalina's maiden on-ground assessment of the underexplored Warriedar Project.
The program continues the Company's focus on maintaining exploration momentum across its Mid-West portfolio and progressing priority projects towards their next stage of activity.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Field activities underway at Tallering, Kirkalocka and Warriedar in the MidWest.
- Santy advancing towards maiden drilling in November 2026, with fieldwork targeting tungsten anomalies and additional drill targets.
- Kirkalocka advancing towards drill-ready status, with ~1,500 soil samples completed (assays pending) and heritage surveys planned for September.
- Kirkalocka targets strategically located near the existing Kirkalocka Gold Mine and processing infrastructure.
- Maiden field program at Warriedar, targeting an underexplored tenement holding within a highly active exploration district surrounded by established resource companies.
Executive Director, Mr Ross Cotton commented:
"We are focused on delivering results and on getting our priority targets drill-ready. A significant amount of work has been completed across the Mid-West portfolio over recent months and we are now seeing that translate into a clear pipeline of exploration activity. Santy is moving towards drilling in November, Kirkalocka is approaching drill-ready status, and at Warriedar we are getting on the ground for the first time to assess what we believe is a compelling opportunity in a highly prospective part of the Mid-West.
Work is progressing at all projects concurrently where possible. While assays are being finalised at Kirkalocka, we are completing heritage work; while heritage matters progress at Tallering, we are refining drill targets and identifying the next opportunities. We want to make sure that when each milestone is completed, we are positioned to move straight into the next phase of work.
There is good momentum across the portfolio and our focus is clear - complete the work, refine the targets and get drilling."
Tallering Project - Santy Target Advancing Towards Drilling
The Santy target within Catalina's Tallering Project continues to advance towards maiden drilling, with the Company targeting commencement of its first drill program in November 2026, subject to completion of heritage clearances.
Historical exploration at Santy has defined a 2.2km gold anomalous trend along strike from the A Zone and Mixy gold deposits, while subsequent2,3 review and fieldwork has highlighted an additional tungsten-polymetallic opportunity.
Historical drilling returned 17m @ 0.178% WO3 from 79m (SRC006), including 4m @ 0.367% WO3, with individual intervals up to 0.839% WO3. A further 3m @ 0.154% WO3 from 99m to EOH (SRC007) ended in mineralisation.
More recently, Catalina fieldwork returned rock-chip results of up to 0.62% WO3, 1,480ppm Mo, 12,300 ppm Bi, 1.975% Cu, 530g/t Ag and 5.70g/t Au. The tungsten-molybdenumbismuth association, together with an untested eastern IP conductivity anomaly, has further refined priority areas for follow-up.
With heritage clearances progressing, Catalina's exploration team will return to Tallering for further pre-drill fieldwork. The program will focus on continuing reconnaissance for additional targets across the broader Santy project.
The work is a further step towards the planned November drill program, which will provide Catalina with its first opportunity to directly test priority gold and tungsten-polymetallic targets at Santy.
Kirkalocka - Advancing Towards Drill-Ready
Kirkalocka is a key component of Catalina's Mid-West strategy, with priority targets located near the existing Kirkalocka Gold Mine and processing infrastructure.
Historical exploration has identified several gold prospects, including Highway, Capra, Avis and Two Mile Bore, with significant results including:
- 1m @ 23.08g/t Au from 18m (08KLRC033);
- 6m @ 1.79g/t Au from 42m (KKA796) at Highway;
- 6m @ 1.38g/t Au from 27m (KKA795) at Highway; and
- surface sampling of up to 9.89g/t Au (sample 17959) at Avis.
Catalina has progressively advanced these targets through historical data review, field reconnaissance and, most recently, completion of an approximately 1,500-sample soil geochemistry program, with assay results currently being finalised.
Heritage surveys across priority target areas will commence within the month, with Catalina personnel joining Badimia Traditional Owners and heritage consultants on the ground.
With the soil program complete, the heritage survey represents a key final step towards drillready status. Pending soil results will be incorporated into final target selection ahead of the planned maiden drill program.
Kirkalocka's location directly adjacent to existing processing infrastructure provides additional strategic relevance to exploration success and a potential future development pathway should economically significant gold mineralisation be established.
Warriedar - First On-Ground Exploration
A maiden field reconnaissance program will also commence at the Warriedar Project.
Warriedar is located within the Yalgoo-Singleton Greenstone Belt in an active exploration and development district, with Catalina's tenure surrounded by projects held by several established gold and resources companies.
Catalina considers the Warriedar tenure to be comparatively underexplored, presenting an opportunity to apply modern exploration and interpretation to an existing landholding within a prospective and tightly held part of the Mid-West.
The initial field program will focus on ground-truthing historical exploration and geological datasets, assessing prospective structures and lithological settings and identifying priority areas for follow-up exploration.
The program represents the first step in establishing Catalina's own on-ground understanding of Warriedar and determining where future exploration can be focused most effectively.
