Israeli Gunfire Injures Palestinian Child, Man in West Bank
(MENAFN) Two Palestinians, including a child, sustain gunshot wounds during Israeli military raids in the northern occupied West Bank cities of Jenin and Qalqilya early Sunday, according to reports.
In Jenin, a 50-year-old Palestinian man is struck by live ammunition in his hand and leg during an Israeli raid in the Al-Jabriyat area. Medical teams treat him at the scene before transferring him to a hospital for further care.
A Palestinian child is also wounded by live fire in the thigh during an Israeli military operation in Qalqilya and is taken to a hospital for treatment.
Israeli military raids across the occupied West Bank have continued on a near-daily basis, while attacks by Israeli settlers have intensified since the Gaza war began in October 2023.
The operations have involved the killing and detention of Palestinians, demolitions of homes, damage to agricultural land and forced displacement, alongside the continued expansion of Israeli settlements.
Palestinians have warned that these developments could facilitate Israel’s formal annexation of the occupied West Bank, which they say would further threaten the prospects of establishing an independent Palestinian state in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
