Eight Nations Slam Israeli Ministers Over Gaza Displacement Remarks
(MENAFN) Foreign ministers from Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE issued a sharp joint condemnation Sunday of recent remarks by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defense Minister Israel Katz concerning the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
In a joint statement released through the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the eight ministers denounced any proposed plans or mechanisms aimed at forcibly removing Palestinians from their land, warning that such rhetoric breaches international law and endangers Palestinian rights.
"Such inflammatory statements and proposals flagrantly violate principles of international law, including international humanitarian law, and pose a direct threat to the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people," the ministers said.
The statement reaffirmed the group's "unequivocal rejection and condemnation" of any effort or scheme to displace Palestinians — whether inside or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory — regardless of how such actions might be justified.
The ministers cautioned that converting displacement rhetoric into formal policy or tangible measures to uproot Palestinians would carry serious consequences for the broader region. They argued such steps would directly undermine international peace efforts, including US President Donald Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which explicitly prohibits forced displacement.
Describing Gaza as an inseparable part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the ministers called for preserving Palestinian territorial unity spanning Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. They reiterated backing for a two-state solution as the sole route to lasting, just peace — envisioning an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, consistent with relevant international resolutions.
The ministers further called on the international community, and the UN Security Council in particular, to push back against attempts to reshape the demographic or geographic makeup of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and to enforce compliance with international law.
The statement closed by reaffirming support for Palestinians remaining on their land and rejecting efforts to "erase the Palestinian cause or undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."
