Iran Warns US of "Heavier" Response to Any New Attack

(MENAFN) Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued a stark warning to the US on Sunday, cautioning that any fresh assault on Iran's interests or security would trigger a "faster, heavier and more painful" retaliation.

Addressing a parliamentary session, Qalibaf declared that the age of what he termed "proportionate responses" had ended, asserting that recent Iranian military strikes on US bases represented "only a beginning."

"The Americans must have understood that the era of 'proportionate responses' is over," he said.

"If they have not understood it by now, they should understand before it is too late that the rules of the game have changed, and from now on, any aggression against Iran's interests and security will receive a faster, heavier and more painful response," he added.

Qalibaf claimed Iranian military strikes on US bases had placed Washington under mounting pressure, and accused American officials of using artificial intelligence to fabricate images and videos depicting battlefield developments.

His comments come against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict that erupted in February, when the US and Israel carried out joint strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory missile and drone strikes against American targets throughout the region.

Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding in June — mediated by Pakistan and Qatar — laying out a framework to wind down hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and roll back economic restrictions. Since then, both sides have accused each other of reneging on the agreement's terms, with military tensions persisting alongside ongoing disputes over sanctions and navigation rights through the strait.

Throughout the conflict, Iran has launched multiple missile and drone strikes against US military installations in the region, while Washington has continued its own military operations targeting Iranian sites.
