Yemeni Army Strikes Houthi Military Camp in Al-Jawf

(MENAFN) The Yemeni army says it has carried out a strike against a Houthi military camp in northern Al-Jawf province, destroying military equipment and capabilities at the site.

Army spokesman Majid al-Nuzaili says the operation targets the Al-Labanat camp and uses “specialized capabilities” that were recently added to military service.

In a statement broadcast on state television, al-Nuzaili says the attack destroys Houthi military capabilities and neutralizes personnel at the camp. He does not disclose what weapons are used or provide figures for casualties.

Yemen experiences a period of relative calm beginning in April 2022 after years of conflict between government forces, supported by a Saudi-led coalition, and the Iran-backed Houthis. The Houthis captured the capital Sanaa and large parts of the country in 2014.

Tensions have increased since late 2023 following the outbreak of the Gaza war, with the Houthis stepping up attacks against Israel and commercial vessels operating in the Red Sea. The latest resurgence in fighting has raised concerns that Yemen could once again descend into a full-scale conflict.
