Turkish, Iranian Foreign Ministers Review US Negotiations

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi speak by phone on Saturday to review the latest developments surrounding ongoing negotiations with the United States.

The two ministers conduct a “comprehensive” discussion on the progress of the talks and the latest developments, according to diplomatic sources.

Tensions across the region have intensified since US and Israeli strikes against Iran began on Feb. 28. Tehran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel as well as US interests in several parts of the region.

In June, Washington and Tehran reached a memorandum of understanding addressing freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. However, efforts to put the agreement into effect have remained stalled due to differences over security arrangements in the strategically important waterway.
